Granulina vitrea (Laseron, 1957)
Maximum size: 1.1 mm shell length (Kay, 1979).
Identification:
This is a very small, globular species with a transparent shell.
The animal is translucent-cream spotted with violet-brown and white.
White spotting is concentrated on the mid-line of the head and foot. In
young animals, brown spots on a yellow ground show through the shell.
In older animals, that pattern is obscured by a frosting of
opaque-white. The eyes are black.
Natural history: Granulina vitrea
is a common species found in rocky habitats at moderately
protected to moderately exposed sites.
Distribution:
Maui: widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.
