Elysia
sp. #14

Elysia sp. #14
Maximum size:  5.8 mm.

Identification:  This is a pale-green animal mottled with white and decorated with ocellate, dark-green spots as well as scattered iridescent flecks. The rhinophores are green basally but translucent-cream distally (with the distal portion being contractile). It's body is covered with low, widely-spaced papillae and the parapodia form three broad chimneys, the central one higher.

Natural history:  Elysia sp. #14  is known from one animal found at a moderately exposed site at about 12 m (40 ft).

Distribution:  Maui.

Taxonomic notes:  It was first recorded in Hawaii from Whaler's Village, Maui by CP on Nov. 27, 2008. Previously, it was lumped with Elysia sp. #5. However, it differs from that species in having lower parapodia, less prominent papillae and smaller rhinophores.
