Elysia sp. #15
Maximum size: about 10 mm.
Identification: This
is
an intricately patterned animal with four parapodial chimneys (the
posterior one low). There are low tubercles on the surfaces of
the parapodia. Its translucent-cream body is decorated with black,
orange and white spots. The black spots are found on both the interior
and exterior of the parapodia. The white spots are concentrated on the
tubercles. The orange spots are distributed sub-marginally on
the parapodia and sub-apically on the tips of the rhinophores. The edges of the parapodia and rhinophore
tips are frosted with gray-violet.
Natural history:
Elysia
sp. #15 is known from one animal found on coral rubble at a moderately exposed site at about 6 m (20 ft).
Distribution: Big Island.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first recorded in Hawaii from Kawaihae, Big Island by David Prutow on March 11, 2024.
