Maximum size: 10 mm (Kay &
Young, 1969).
Identification:
This is a cream animal with broad, irregular light to dark brown patches containing
cream dots. It's distinctive in having slender, curved extra-branchial
and
extra-rhinophoral processes.
Natural history:
Trapania euryeia
is a moderately rare species found in moderately protected to
moderately exposed rocky habitats at depths of < 1 to 6 m (< 3
to 20 ft). It feeds on Entoprocts.
Distribution:
Big Island, Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Midway: widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.
Taxonomic notes:
The drawing labeled Trapania
sp. in Kay, 1979 is probably this sp. It was probably first reported in
Hawaii from Kewalo Basin, Oahu in Dec., 1962 (Kay & Young, 1969--as Trapania sp.).
