Maximum size: 7 mm
Identification:
This species has a translucent-gray to brown body slightly frosted with
white. The rhinophores are translucent-mahogany with white flecks on
their tips. There is a line of white spots on the upper face of each
cephalic tentacle. The cerata have small white subapical rings and
there is opaque white on the notum near the tip of the foot.
Natural history:
Sakuraeolis sp. #1
is a rare
species found in moderately exposed to exposed rocky habitats at depths
of 2-6 m (6-20 ft). It holds its cerata coiled over the notum and
"flares" them when disturbed.
Distribution:
Maui: also known from the Philippines.
Taxonomic notes: It was first recorded in Hawaii from off Makena, Maui by
PF on July 31, 1989.
