Pedipes sandwicensis Pease, 1860
Maximum size: 3 mm.
Identification:
This species has an inflated, globular, brown shell with fine spiral
ridges. There is one fold inside the outer lip and three prominent
folds on the columella.
Natural history:
Shells of Pedipes sandwicensis
are moderately rare in beach drift. Live animals may be found under
rocks in the supraspray zone in association with Melampus castaneus.
Distribution:
Maui and Oahu.
